Klimt Would Be Proud

I believe in my heart that if Gustav Klimt were alive today he would be greatly flattered by my featured artist’s work. The blog is in French, so I can not be sure what her given name is. If someone knows please post a comment πŸ™‚ Her blog is called Trukabul – Argile Polymere.

I spotted this post while randomly surfing my favorite blogs. She has created a beautiful, futuristic interpretation of a Klimt masterpiece called The Embrace and named her’s The End. She captured Klimt’s style while putting her own twist on it by using polymer clay as the medium. Texture and cane work are manipulated to create the intricate patterns and colors.Β  Wish I could figure out how she did the black lines defining the figures embracing.

With no further ado, here is the wonder that caught my eye πŸ™‚

Facebook Friends feature Artist – Cynthia Gordillo

This weeks featured artist, Cynthia Gordillo, created some earrings that really caught my eye. They have beautiful image transfers and I am guessing they are encased in either resin or liquid clay. Resin seems the more obvious choice though. The shape is sort of retro and the images she chose to use are intricate, colorful and textural.

Seeing these earrings on Facebook led me to Cynthia’s Flickr album where I was blown away be her fabulously funky face earrings. πŸ™‚ Are they adorable or what?

Then I spot the jaw dropping necklaces !!!! This gal can do transfers with the best of them. My favorite is the Klimt image of The Kiss she used on this particular necklace. Totally to die for !!!

This next necklace I am not sure what technique Cynthia used, but I love the metallic colors and the flow of the piece.

And she makes rings too πŸ™‚

You can follow Cynthia’s blog to keep up with her work.

Klimt Inspirations

I have been a long time fan of Gustav Klimt’s art. The Kiss is my favorite, with his portrait of Adele coming a close second. Then there are others like Three Ages of Women and Tree of Life that really make me think.

I’ve noticed recently that I am not the only polymer clay artist inspired by Klimt. People are doing image transfers, inspirational piecesΒ and canes using the colors and geometric shapes Klimt often used.
