Great Storage Solutions For Taking Your Clay With You

Do you travel to clay retreats and conferences or plan to in the near future? Or perhaps you like to take you clay with you on vacation. Storage can be a bit tricky when you travel with a pasta machine, 10 pounds of polymer clay and another 20 pounds of tool and accessories. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sometimes I feel the need to take everything including the kitchen sink. LOL

I prefer travel cases with wheels for the heavy stuff. I have an older Crop In Style Stamp Store that has a nice size open compartment in the top and the front unzips to reveal the stacking drawers that also work as removable trays. This is perfect for storing my 2oz blocks of Premo and my various tools. The retractable handle is a real plus, too.

To haul around my pasta machine and cases containing rubber stamps, various inks and raw canes I use an ArtBin Ultimate Solutions Tote on wheel. It has some handy pockets of all sizes around the outside for things like magazines, books, pens, small ceramic tiles, etc. I’m not sure if they even make this older model anymore. It doesn’t have the retractable handle, so I usually just pull it behind me.

What I would love to have is the new ArtBin Solutions Cabinet. OMG would it come in handy to store raw canes, pens & pencils, paint, tools………….. So what if it doesn’t have wheels or a handle or outside pocket, I NEED one ! I really, really need this baby. hee hee I can already hear hubby “What the heck do you need with another storage case?” Men don’t get it.
artbin3 I’m pretty sure I forgot to mention they are STACKABLE ! WHoo hoo now I need 2 or 3 or maybe 4.

Another great looking solution is the Crop In Style Rolling Bead Organizer with all it’s removable plastic cases and pockets to put stuff.

Also on my radar is the Crop In Style NaNavigator Rolling Tote. Lots of open space inside and many pockets for goodies. I bet you could get 2 pasta machine and a motor inside this puppy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t hate me LOL But both of these Crop In Style totes are on sale at www.joanns.com for $69.99. Use the code ACD89 and get free standard US shipping until March 30th.

Spring Fever – Literally

Sorry everyone. I spent the first part of last week mailing out 23 packages for the shape cutter group buy and all the packages for my Spring Destash Sale. Started feeling yucky on Wedneday eve and woke up Thursday feeling like I was in a fog. Yep, my first flu of the season. Feeling better today finally. ๐Ÿ™‚ Going to be working on some posts for this week so I can get caught up. Look for more tomorrow, or maybe this evening.

Polymer Clay Sequins

A friend shared this video link with me from the DIY channel. Great project you could do with the kids. Use liquid clay and mica powder to bake sheets of clay, then make circles with a paper punch.

Flickr Finds For March 19th

Found a few drool worthy pieces I need to show you all ๐Ÿ™‚

First off I must say that this first pair of artist Corliss and John Rose are phenomenal !!! They do everything. Metalwork, polymer clay, resin, wood turning, knife making, enameling, micro-mosaic, steampunk, stone carving and they do their own photography. I’m sure I am forgetting something. OMG ! Do these people sleep ? LOL

Since I try to stick to polymer clay here, I will show you some of their clay wonders, but please do check out their entire Flickr Gallery. You will be amazed, stunned and speechless.

Craftedu.com – Internet Based Learning

I’m quite sure I am not the only person that lives in the middle of nowhere and finds it difficult to travel to classes and retreats. Especially now in this bad economy and gas prices being what they are. There is a new web site designed just for us. Well, maybe not just for us, but they had us in mind. ๐Ÿ™‚

Craftedu.com is a new venture started by Donna Kato, with the help of her fabulous hubby, Vernon . It will be a way to present art classes via the internet by a variety of skilled teachers. You will find polymer clay classes taught by the likes of Donna Kato (that was obvious I think LOL), Kim Cavender, Judy Belcher, Julie Picarello, Bettina Welker, Barb Fajardo, Julie Eakes, Sarah Shriver and Iris Mishly just to mention a few.

There are also teacher on board who do bead art, jewelry making, painting, mixed media, wire work, drawing, knitting, quilting, scrapbooking, metal clay, digital art……… If it’s can be done I think you will find it at Craftedu.com !

Classes haven’t quite begun, but hopefully very soon. I have my fingers crossed. I am so ready to learn something new.

To stay up to date with the Craftedu.com staff additions and news be sure to follow the Craftedu Blog or Fan their page on Facebook

Steampunk Fantasies

I know I have shared Marina Lombardi’s work in the past. Her style is usually so classically feminine and flowery, but when I saw her new Steampunk designs I was floored. They are so wonderful !!!

I just love the flow of this floral piece.

And who doesn’t love owls ๐Ÿ™‚ The monocle effect is just too fabulous !

A techno turtle ๐Ÿ™‚

Lovely dragonfly

And my favorite – the heart locket
